A piece to celebrate the courageous Team Scotland athlete Micky Yule before his participation in the Commonwealth games in Birmingham, UK.

The Brief
Team Scotland were producing a magazine to showcase the Scotland team that were taking part in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and wanted a piece to accompany an article on Micky Yule, a Paralympic powerlifter.
The Sketch
Micky Yule was a member of the British Armed Forces stationed in Afghanistan when, on foot patrol in 2010, he stepped on an IED. Yule lost both of his legs in the blast. A member of the Army Powerlifting team before the blast, he turned to the sport during his rehabilitation.
The Final Piece
He has since gone on to claim several medals in competition, including a Bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. I wanted to pay tribute to his mental fortitude and incredible recovery with this Super Hero comic cover.
