FC25 BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

The BRIEF

Working with COPA90, the brief was two fold.

  1. To create 9 icons relating to FC25 that could be used as static images in promotional material and also animated so that they could be used in game and on social media posts as stand alone stickers as well as part of larger, more complex posts

  2. To create a suite of player posters that could be posted by clubs online as player upgrades were released as part of the two week celebration event.

ICON CONCEPT SKETCHES

The first task was to concept and design the look and feel of the 9 assets. A moodpboard was produced and I was given license to explore different ways of rendering the characters. One thing that was locked in very early on is that EA wanted some small characters with a star like form, to help represent their 5 star upgrade system in-game. The Jude Bellingham arms aloft celebration was one of the key animatics they wanted and was the starting point for the design of the illustrated assets. I had license to explore different illustrated icons beyond this and start to build a response to the brief.

PLAYER POSTERS

The Player Posters were to accompany the release of upgrades to particular player attributes in game across the two week celebration event. These would be released by EA Sports and also the corresponding clubs to help gain traction for the player upgrades. They were to be loosely based on some previous work done for EURO 24 but with a slightly different aesthetic, with an introduction of a consistent key line so that they could work within a colourful composition as well as standalone assets.

PLAYER POSTER SKETCHES

t all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

CLOSING THOUGHTS

It was a real privilege to be involved in such a huge global project and the reception it got online from the EAFC community and from the client made the many late nights worthwhile! Head over to the portfolio section to see some of the final outputs here.
